Integration of NbS into climate change adaptation policies.

NODA Pacifique participated in a consortium led by Mathieu Juncker and Guénolé Bouvet, alongside Virginie Duvat and Emma Do Khac (Capsylva), to carry out a mission aimed at integrating Nature-based Solutions (NbS) into climate change adaptation policies and strategies in New Caledonia.

This assignment was carried out under the regional PEBACC+ project, led by the Kiwa Initiative. Implemented by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and co-financed by the Kiwa Initiative and the French Global Environment Facility (FFEM), the project aimed to promote Nature-based Solutions to strengthen the resilience of island ecosystems, populations, and economies in the face of climate change.

In the context of this assignment, NODA Pacifique provided expertise on terrestrial ecosystems, with a particular focus on agricultural systems. We contributed to the technical preparation of awareness-raising workshops and took part in facilitating two training sessions: one for staff of the Northern Province, and another held at the Institute of Public Administration Training (IFAP), bringing together participants from various institutions and organizations.

These workshops aimed to improve understanding of climate projections in New Caledonia, explore Nature-based adaptation strategies, share local and international experiences, and collectively reflect—through participatory sessions—on solutions adapted to concrete situations.
